Bachelor of Medical and Psychiatric Social Work (B.MPSW)

Parul University’s Bachelor of Medical and Psychiatric Social Work is designed to provide students with an opportunity to take up positions next to individuals, families, and communities suffering from medical, psychological, and social problems and to understand the principles of social work, human behavior, mental health, social welfare, and healthcare systems. As the course progresses, learning takes place in medical and psychiatric social work practice, counselling fundamentals, community development, social casework, group work, and mental health awareness, as well as an understanding of what an individual goes through in illness, psychological distress, family trouble, and social disadvantage, with classroom teaching combined with practical exercises, fieldwork, case discussions, and supervised exposure to healthcare and community settings so that theory meets with real social work practice.

A candidate seeking admission must have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) or an equivalent examination in any stream. The candidate must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or must attain the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the first year of the Undergraduate Allied and Healthcare Course. A medical fitness certificate, duly endorsed by a Government Medical Officer, is mandatory at the time of admission. Foreign national students intending to pursue an Undergraduate (UG) program in India must obtain an Equivalence Certificate of Eligibility from the respective State Allied and Healthcare Council. Admission of foreign national students shall be based on the merit of the University Entrance Examination. Prior to enrollment, the respective institution and the University shall verify the validity of the student's visa and visa duration. The admission criteria may be revised by the Commission from time to time, and the admission process shall be conducted by the respective State Government, Union Territory, or University in accordance with the applicable regulations. Admission shall be granted on the basis of the entrance test conducted by the respective University or Institute.
